Happy New Years! This month’s theme on Margins is “Amazing Firsts”, and I would like to take a moment to reflect on how the past four months have been with the new existence of Margins.
I’ve been easily frustrated when things have gone wrong and beat myself up over things I couldn’t control in regards to this new publication. This is honestly how I treat myself across the board in regards to other aspects of my life, but it was Margins that showed me that I should learn how to stop and appreciate what has been done.
I’m really blessed to have had Emily Kim, who believed in my vision for Margins to help elevate it to another level. I’m so blessed to work with talented artists and writers on the daily. Margins has opened my eyes, pushed me, and inspired me in ways that I couldn’t have imagined.
I’m glad to know that people benefit from reading Margins, and that our crew is getting experience from working on a budding publication. Margins has really kept me going through the ups and downs in my life and I’m grateful to whoever reading this is giving us a chance.
I value representation and different points of view even more than I did before creating Margins, and I believe that 2016 will be a great year.
We hope to open up submissions again soon for February, and our theme then will be “Illusions” for that month. In the meantime, follow us on all our social media sites for more updates!
Let’s make 2016 great!
With much love,
